2010 Cabernet Franc, Reserve, Sonoma Valley

Cabernet Franc is used in most of our blends including Red Rex and our flagship DRX. Cabernet Franc adds lift and a chocolate note in the upper palate. Steve Morse, one of our partners, has been after Robert for years to bottle Cabernet Franc as a varietal. So, here it is, in all its glory, one of the truly great Bordeaux varietals. We added Cabernet Sauvignon by taste to enhance and lengthen the finish.

Deerfield’s Cabernet Franc is a full-bodied wine with silky tannins, dark spicy aromas, peppery accents, and rich red and blackberry flavor focused at the top of your palate where you taste dark chocolate. If you’re a Cabernet Sauvignon fan our Cabernet Franc will be a treat, with a whole new set of nuances. Deerfield Cabernet Franc, like all Deerfield wine, is cleanly made (clean wine: clear head) and pairs best with meats and grilled entrees’ and, of course, Robert’s chocolate truffles.
