2009 Sangiovese, Alpicella Vineyard

At long last, Deerfield’s award winning Sangiovese is back and the Winter Wine Club is the first to get it. As usual, Robert blended 4% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Merlot to the Sangiovese to round out the flavors and add complexity. The 2009 Sangiovese was aged for 48 months in select oak barrels. Like Pinot Noir, Sangiovese pairs well with many different foods and is delightful on its own.
